About Chico Holidays Together

Imagine all of the most vulnerable kids, families and individuals being helped and all of the lives that will be touched in our community when we direct our generosity during the holidays to solve year-round problems and keep the spirit of giving strong year-round.

Chico Holidays Together Acorn Light Icon

Chico Holidays Together is a collaborative effort to shift the ways families, individuals and donors give during the holidays. The power of collaboration is that we are working together to reduce the duplication of services, to use donations at the right times to fulfill needs without creating waste or surplus which ultimately allows us to stretch donor dollars further.

Our partners this year include Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley, Butte County Office of Education, Esplanade House, Jesus Center, The Salvation Army, and Torres Community Shelter, with The Chico Posse Foundation as our endorser.

Chico Holidays Together is a challenge to the community to make a shift and have a new kind of humanitarian response to giving during the holidays.

We’ll Be Collaborating on These

Food Boxes

Christmas Food Boxes serve low income families, seniors and those on disability across Chico. Boxes include Christmas Dinner & a week’s worth of groceries. Support the effort by donating $15 grocery store gift cards for the Christmas protein.

Senior Lunch

There are many seniors, grandparents raising grandkids and individuals on disability that need a place to celebrate Christmas. We will be hosting a Christmas Eve luncheon just for them.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley

The generosity of our community never ceases to amaze us, and while it is the most generous time of the year, we want to make sure your giving is as impactful as possible for the youth and families we serve. Each year we receive an abundance of toys, which are nice to give to children, but do not often address the needs of our kids and families. The most effective way to change the lives of our youth and meet the greatest need is through grocery gift cards. These donations allow us to meet the various needs of local youth throughout the holiday season.

Butte County Office of Education, School Ties Program

The BCOE School Ties Program provides educational support services to students experiencing homelessness in our local schools. We are excited to participate in the Chico Holidays Together 2018 campaign. The greatest need we have is for grocery gift cards. Help our students stay energized and ready to learn!

Esplanade House, Community Action Agency of Butte County

CCAA’s Esplanade House is a Transitional Housing Program for Homeless Families. We average 70 adults and 100 children on our campus. CAA Esplanade House is honored to participate in the Angel Tree activities coordinated by The Salvation Army. Our families also have a need for $25 gift cards to Walmart or Grocery Stores.

Salvation Army

With the combined client base of Chico Holidays Together we are looking to serve 600 families this season. We are looking to meet basic needs for Seniors, children & families. There are two ways you can participate. The first is by adopting an Angel From Angel Tree. Angel’s represent an opportunity to bless local children in need this Holiday season. The second, is by donating a $15 grocery store gift card. Gift cards will be given out with Christmas food baskets. The gift cards will allow families to pick the type of protein they want with their Christmas dinner.

Chico Posse Foundation

The Chico Posse Foundation is proud to be part of Chico Holidays Together. We will be assisting the participating organizations—volunteering time and encouraging people to donate. We are always grateful for any donations of furniture, household items and cash to help give a hand up to those in need.

The Chico Posse consists of 5 women and countless donors who want to make a difference. Individuals and families can slip through the cracks of other services, and sometimes that gap needs to be filled to get people on their feet. The Chico Posse connects people in need with people who can help—whether it’s getting someone a bike, a stroller, food, furniture or to pay a PG&E bill. You can give a “hand up” with monetary donations or by donating gently used furniture and household items that go to assisting people who are moving from transitional to permanent housing.
